News on Jammys, Slint, NYC Summer Concerts

PattiPatti Smith, former Phish bassist Mike Gordon, Nellie McKay, Huey Lewis, Mavis Staples, the Antibalas Horns and Benevento/Russo Duo have joined the performance lineup for the fifth Jammy Awards. The event will be held tomorrow (April 26) at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The lineup will also boast performances by Sinead O'Connor with Burning Spear, Medeski Martin & Wood, Buddy Guy, Travis Tritt, Disco Biscuits, Les Claypool, Ryan Adams, Bruce Hornsby, Burning Spear, the North Mississippi Allstars, the Yonder Mountain String Band, Keller Williams, Umphrey's McGee and Leftover Salmon's Vince Herman.

SlintIts brief reunion tour complete, the members of Slint are auctioning off several pieces of the equipment they used on the outing. Up for bid through early next week on Internet auction site eBay are vocalist/guitarist Brian McMahan's Fender Telecaster, guitarist David Pajo's Fender Stratocaster, McMahan's Fender Hot Rod DeVille amplifier and a custom ATA workbox used by the band's guitar technician.

McMahan and Pajo will autograph their respective items if so requested by the winning bidder.
As previously reported, the Slint reunion will be chronicled on a DVD, due later this year via Touch & Go.

Pajo's next solo album, "Pajo," is due July 5 via Drag City. The artist will unveil some of the material at a May 4 show at New York's Rothko.

MalkmusStephen Malkmus and the Jicks (with Matador labelmates Yo La Tengo and Laura Cantrell), Richard Thompson, M. Ward, the Band's Garth Hudson, Calexico, John Hammond, the Wailers, Regina Carter, the Fiery Furnaces, Robert Earl Keen, McCoy Tyner and Little Anthony and the Imperials have signed on to play free concerts in and around Lower Manhattan this summer.

The majority of the shows are part of the Hudson River Festival, but a number are being separately organized via the Downtown Alliance Inc., as part of the Music at Castle Clinton series.
