Highlights from the project will be broadcast as part of a two-hour primetime special June 1 on NBC.

As first tipped here in November, the Eagles will on June 7 release a double-disc DVD chronicling a November 2004 run of shows in Melbourne. "Farewell 1 Tour -- Live From Melbourne" will be released by the band's own Eagles Recording Co. imprint via Warner Strategic Marketing. Highlights from the project will be broadcast as part of a two-hour primetime special June 1 on NBC.

In addition to such time-tested Eagles hits as "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "Tequila Sunrise," "Hotel California" and "Desperado," the DVD boasts two new songs: the Glenn Frey composition "No More Cloudy Days," and the Joe Walsh-penned "One Day at a Time." Also featured are band interviews and soundcheck and backstage footage.

The Eagles are taking the summer off while Don Henley tours North America with Stevie Nicks, but the group is gearing up for a California tour in the fall. "Glenn Frey just said, 'Why don't we do a tour of California?'" Eagles manager Irving Azoff tells Billboard. "So I said, 'Let's start out by rewarding some of the fans in the outlying areas.'"

Stops include August dates in Angels Camp at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Rohnert Park at Sonoma State University and the Salinas Sports Complex, the Santa Barbara Bowl and Coors Amphitheatre in Chula Vista. There are also two dates at Harvey's Outdoor Stage in Lake Tahoe, Nev., "two blocks from the California state line," according to Azoff.

The Eagles will wrap the tour in the fall with eight Los Angeles-area shows, including four at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim and at least three at the Staples Center, with a final show still to be determined. The band is also considering a benefit show at the Santa Monica Civic Center, "where it all kind of started for the Eagles."

"We just did Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia and the East Coast of the U.S. My guys are tired," Azoff says. "And this California tour is looking like it could be as many as 30 shows." This will be the final leg of the Farewell, Part I outing.
