Green Day has selected Jimmy Eat World as the support act for its next round of touring, which, as previously reported, will feature the band's first stadium shows in a handful of markets. The tour will begin Aug. 10 in Rosemont, Ill., and will wrap with an Oct. 8-9 stand in Carson, Calif.

Green Day has another two weeks of North American shows on tap through May 20 in Calgary, after which it will visit Europe in June and July. That outing includes a June 18-19 run at England's Milton Keynes Bowl with previously announced support from Jimmy Eat World.

The tour activity comes in support of last year's "American Idiot," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 3.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Jimmy Eat World is about to wrap a North American tour with Taking Back Sunday, which visits Santa Clara, Calif., on Tuesday (April 10). A three-week European tour will get underway June 15 in Bristol, England.
