Ex-'Glee' Star Charice to Oprah: 'My Soul Is Like Male'
A clip has been released from former Glee star Charice Pempengco's upcoming sit-down with Oprah Winfrey where the singer/actress -- who came out as gay in June 2013 -- said, "My soul is...male."
"'I knew when I was 5," the 22-year-old singer revealed about being gay in a preview clip. "I was in grade school and I saw this girl and I felt different. I didn't know what it was but I just knew that time, like it felt special. And when I was 10 I was like, 'Oh, that's it. I'm gay.' I found the word."
When Winfrey then asked her if she considered transitioning to male, Charice explained that that wasn't part of her plan. "Not exactly transitioning to a male, but basically my soul is like male," Charice shared. "But I'm not going to go through that stage where I'm going to change everything - not change my body....I would change, like, this look: Cut my hair and wear boy clothes and everything, but that's all." Oprah: Where Are They Now? will air Oct. 19.
