Kenny Chesney will appear in his first network TV special, "Kenny Chesney: Somewhere in the Sun," which will air Nov. 23 on ABC. The one-hour special will intercut live concert footage from his show at Pittsburgh's Heinz Stadium with behind-the-scenes moments shot both on the road and at his home in the Caribbean.

Several as-yet-unnamed celebrity friends of Chesney's -- quite possibly his new bride, actress Renee Zellweger -- are also expected to appear in the special.

The announcement of the Chesney special marks another major foray into country music for ABC. As reported yesterday, the network also snagged the rights to the Country Music Association (CMA) Music Awards and to a television special based on the CMA Music Festival.

Chesney, who last week was named the Academy of Country Music's (ACM) entertainer of the year, is in the midst of a lengthy tour that tonight (May 27) plays the second of two shows in Columbus, Ohio.
