Prince Goes Hyphy on New Track 'FUNKNROLL'

Prince

With the release date for two new Prince albums coming up fast, the Purple One has unleashed a new jam that will appear on both of his upcoming releases.

"FUNKNROLL" starts out fuzzy and funky before seguing into a hyphy-esque jam. Yes, hyphy -- Prince is dabbling in the Bay Area hip-hop subgenre that peaked in the mid '00s. Why? Because he's Prince, dammit, and he can do whatever he wants.

ART OFFICIAL AGE, his solo album, drops Sept. 30, the same day that 3rd Eye Girl -- his side project with Hannah Ford, Donna Grantis and Ida Nielsen -- drop their new album, PLECTRUMELECTRUM.

If you couldn't tell by Prince's pervasive use of ALL CAPS on these releases, it's time to get excited about more new music from the Wizard of Paisley Park.
