Bob Dylan and Norah Jones will perform at a 10th anniversary concert for online retailer Amazon.com. Set for July 16 in Seattle, the event will be open only to the company's employees, but the public will be invited to virtually attend via the Amazon.com homepage.
Hosted by comedian Bill Maher, the Chase-sponsored event is dubbed a Show of Thanks. It will begin at 5 p.m. PT and will also boast readings from popular authors and previously unseen footage from such DVD releases as "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Updates on additional entertainment will be posted at Amazon.com/showofthanks.
Dylan's headlining performance comes after the conclusion of his current tour of minor league baseball parks with Willie Nelson, and before a set of North American dates that will open the next day in Victoria, British Columbia. The Amazon.com show is Jones' sole scheduled performance in 2005.
The show's date marks the exact opening of the store's virtual doors. Founded by Jeff Bezos in his Seattle-area garage as a book retailer, Amazon.com has grown to offer thousands of items and now operates sites serving the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, France, Canada, and China.
