Financial services company Chrysler Financial is backing an 11-date tour starring gospel artist Vickie Winans. Tickets to each of the shows on the outing, opening July 28 in Detroit, will be distributed free on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Vickie is the right artist and her tour is a terrific vehicle for us to get the word out concerning the absolute importance of financial literacy and empowerment," says the company's VP, William F. Jones Jr. "As a partner within the faith-based community, I share Chrysler Financial's vision of empowering members of our community," Winans adds.

Tickets are limited to six per person and are being distributed via VickieWinansRisingStar.com and 866-428-9849.

An additional facet of the tour is a talent search that will find semi-finalists performing at each stop, with winners moving on to a November finale in Detroit. The grand prize winner will earn a contract with Winans' own Destiny Joy Records label and a two-year lease on a 2006 Chrysler 300C. Full contest details and entry forms are available on the tour's site.

Winans' most recent album is 2003's "Bringing It All Together" (Verity/Zomba), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart, a position it held for eight weeks, and peaked at No. 38 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally.
