For months, Arcade Fire has been traveling North America, playing a city-appropriate cover song at each stop on their Reflektor tour, so fans were expecting a New York band to get the nod when the group rolled into the Barclays Center on Friday, August 22. But Brooklyn got one better.
After the bobblehead band 'The Reflektors' took to the arena's B stage playing New York Dolls’ “Personality Crisis,” the real band called upon that song’s singer David Johansen to take the stage as his Buster Poindexter alter ego and perform his ’87 hit “Hot Hot Hot” during the encore. Watch the wackiness ensue in the video below:
The guest appearance wasn't a complete surprise, however, as Johansen broke the news earlier that day on his Facebook page. Are there more surprises in store for Arcade Fire's run of shows in New York? We'll see as the band takes the Barclays stage on Saturday and Sunday nights.
