Despite a Wednesday night report from TMZ, Scott Weiland was not arrested for meth possession and has not been sitting behind bars for four weeks.
Weiland himself debunked the claim in a video posted on Facebook, calling TMZ's report "a nice piece of fiction," telling his fans not to worry and informing TMZ, "You'll be hearing from my attorneys."
TMZ first reported the news after the Beverly Hills Police Department gave them a written statement saying the former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer was in their custody. Many outlets, including Billboard, reported the false news.
After Weiland revealed their error on Facebook, TMZ reports the police realized they had a 44-year-old Weiland impersonator on their hands since July 26. Oops.
As for Weiland, he said he's been "touring, writing and recording my new album" over the last month.
