The Knife Cut Their Time Short, Announce Breakup

The Knife performs onstage during day 1 of the 2014 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club on April 11, 2014 in Indio, California.

Swedish duo formed in 1999.

Fans have always hedged their expectations when it comes to the Knife, the reclusive Swedish duo who have jumped in and out of the music world since 1999. But it sounds like the party is really over this time.

The Knife Ends 7-Year Hiatus With Politically Charged Album

"We will close down, it's our last tour," the band told Dazed in an email interview. "We don’t have any obligations to continue."

Reps for the band have confirmed the breakup.

Just in April, the Knife put on one of the most talked-about sets at Coachella, hitting a U.S. stage for the first time in eight years. As Billboard wrote at the time: "The group took its vexing and wildly experimental 2013 album, Shaking the Habitual, and capably translated it into an experience that was deeply accessible and joyously human."

There are no more U.S. dates on their Shaking the Habital schedule, so if you want to see the Knife one last time, you better book it overseas.

The Knife's remaining shows, according to the band's website:
