Rock band Godsmack seems set to secure its sixth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week with its new album 1000HP. Industry forecasters suggest the set, which was released on Aug. 5, could sell around 50,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Aug. 10.
The Billboard 200's new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Meanwhile, up at the top of the chart, there is a battle brewing for No. 1 between the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 soundtrack and the new Now 51 compilation. Both albums could sell around 95,000 to 100,000 copies.
It would be the second week on the chart for the Awesome album, which debuted at No. 3 with a bigger-than-expected 60,000 sold in the week ending Aug. 3, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
If Awesome hits No. 1, it will mark the second soundtrack to reach No. 1 this year, following Frozen. Both albums were released by the Disney Music Group: Awesome is on Marvel/Hollywood Records, and Frozen is a Walt Disney Records title.
However, if Now 51 tops the chart, it will mark the 19th leader for the Now series. Most recently, Now 50 bowed in the penthouse, selling 153,000 in its first frame.
Rock act Spoon is also aiming for the top 10, as its new They Want My Soul might sell around 30,000. They've hit the top 10 twice before, with 2007's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (No. 10) and 2010's Transference (No. 4).
Another album that is flirting with a top 10 debut is The Vamps' debut EP, Somebody To You. The new U.K. pop band's set could shift around 20,000.
On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Now 51, Guardians of the Galaxy and Godsmack are Nos. 1-3, respectively. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.
As for the rest of the Building chart's top 10, 5 Seconds of Summer's self-titled album is No. 4, Spoon rests at No. 5, The Vamps are No. 6 and Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour is No. 7. The soundtrack to Frozen is No. 8, followed by Ed Sheeran's x at No. 9 and Eric Clapton's The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale at No. 10.
