A West Coast swing will begin Oct. 15 in Calexico's Tucson, Ariz.-home base, and stretch through Oct. 30 in Austin, Texas.
As tipped here in June, Iron & Wine and Calexico have announced dates for the first leg of their collaborative tour. A West Coast swing will begin Oct. 15 in Calexico's Tucson, Ariz.-home base, and stretch through Oct. 30 in Austin, Texas. A run of East Coast dates is expected to get underway in November.
The tour comes in support of the EP "In the Reins," due Sept. 20 via Overcoat Recordings. The set finds Calexico backing Iron & Wine principal Sam Beam on seven previously unreleased tracks.
"We'd love to have Richard Buckner in New York, and maybe the Shins on the West Coast," Calexico's Joey Burns recently told Billboard.com of his hopes to attract special guests to the upcoming tour. "It would be great to have those acts do something solo acoustic and then come back later to do some songs together with us. By putting out the word ahead of time, I know we'll get a lot of people wanting to come down and collaborate."
Having just wrapped a run of European festival dates, Calexico is expected to continue work on its next studio album, due next spring via Touch & Go.
