'Just a Friend' MC surprises fans at 'Book of Life' panel in San Diego.

When you think of a 3-D computer-animated film produced by Guillermo del Toro, you immediately think of proudly off-key rapper Biz Markie, right?

Well, probably not, but all the fans at The Book of Life panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday (July 25) were treated to Markie performing his signature hit, "Just a Friend," which appears in the film. Things got even more interesting when Book voice star Channing Tatum joined in on the impromptu karaoke sesh.

Along with Tatum, co-stars Christina Applegate and Ron Perlman joined in on the sing-along, though they never got on the mic.

Markie hasn't made an album since 2003's Weekend Warrior, but he's stayed busy with his beatboxing segments on Yo Gabba Gabba!, and he told Billboard last year that he was working on an album of covers and "real rap records."
