Modern rock outfit Staind's fifth album, appropriately dubbed "Chapter V," arrives this week via Flip/Atlantic. First single "Right Here" is No. 3 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart and No. 6 on the Modern Rock tally.
"Chapter V" was produced by David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Godsmack) and also features the tracks "Paper Jesus" and "Falling." The group is presently on the road opening for 3 Doors Down through Sept. 4 in Syracuse, N.Y.
"I'm my own worst critic," Staind frontman Aaron Lewis says. "The personal songs; it's a way for me to get those things out, because I wouldn't feel comfortable saying them to anyone. I'm pretty bad about being an internalist. I hold everything down and then explode. It's better for everyone around me that I put that explosion down into lyrics rather than just exploding on somebody."
The new album is the follow-up to 2003's "14 Shades of Grey," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
