Some of the biggest names of hip-hop past and present will be on hand for the second VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, to be broadcast on the music channel Sept. 26 from New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Some of the biggest names of hip-hop past and present will be on hand for the second VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, to be broadcast on the music channel Sept. 26 from New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. The event will be hosted by Run-D.M.C.'s Rev. Run and his brother, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.

Among the acts set to perform are Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Missy Elliott, Eve, Common and Jazzy Jeff.

They will salute such hip-hop legends as LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, the Notorious B.I.G., Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane and Salt-N-Pepa. The film "Boyz in the Hood" will also be the subject of a tribute.

In conjunction with the show, VH1.com is hosting the contest Freestyle 59, which will yield one undiscovered MC who will be flown to New York to record a video. The winner will be announced during the show.
