Originally expected Nov. 8, the sophomore album from Big & Rich, "Comin' to Your City," will now be released one week later. And while group member John Rich previously told Billboard.com that "8th of November" would be the first radio single, instead it will be the title track from the Warner Bros. set promoted to U.S. country outlets in September.
"8th of November," which features Kris Kristofferson contributing the opening narrative, is based on the true story of a Vietnam veteran and the ambush of the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
As he did with the pair's debut, "Horse of a Different Color," Paul Worley co-produced the new album with Rich and partner Big Kenny. Additional songs on the album include the up-tempo cut "Blow My Mind" and the ballad "Never Mind Me."
Released in 2003, "Horse" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 6 on The Billboard 200. The set has sold 2.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Big & Rich are on the road with Brooks & Dunn's Deuces Wild Tour, but will play their own show tomorrow (Aug. 18) at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville. The tour picks up again Friday in Camden, N.J., and runs through an Oct. 30 stop in West Palm Beach, Fla., with a handful of Big & Rich one-off dates scattered throughout.
