Maverick has set an Oct. 4 release date for a collection of "B-Sides & Rarities" from modern rock act the Deftones, who are in the midst of recording a new studio album. The project will feature a 14-track audio CD as well a DVD with 10 music videos and two live clips.

The CD is dominated by covers, ranging from Jawbox's "Savory" and Helmet's "Sinatra" to the Smiths' "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want," the Cure's "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" and Sade's "No Ordinary Love." Also included are acoustic renditions of such Deftones originals as "Change (In the House of Flies)," "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" and "Digital Bath."

Among the videos rounded up for the DVD are early favorites like "Bored" and "7 Words," newer fare such as "Hexagram" and "Minerva" and live versions of "Root and "Engine Number 9."

Expected next year, the Deftones' in-the-works album will the follow-up to its 2003 self-titled effort, which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 492,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
