Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge: 'There Will Be A New Album'

Blink-182 First Listen: Hear 'Boxing Day' from the 'Dogs Eating Dogs' EP

Take off your pants and jacket...and celebrate. Work on a seventh Blink-182 studio album is underway.

Frontman Tom DeLonge confirmed the news with a post July 14 from his Instagram account. In typical form, Tom grabbed his followers’ attention with a happy-snap of the trio as teens, each sporting dubious hairstyles. Below it is a caption that reads: “Rehearsals start today… And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink.”

The Mark, Tom and Travis show has appeared on the international touring circuit on various occasions over the past 18 months. Blink-182 played Australia’s Soundwave festival tour of Australia in 2013 without drummer Travis Barker, who wouldn’t board the plane due to his fear of flying (he was a passenger on a fatal September 2008 plane crash in South Carolina). And the group’s upcoming summer touring itinerary includes headlining slots at the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K.

But there hasn’t been an album release since “Neighborhoods” in 2011, the year the band split from Interscope. The trio self-financed the "Dogs Eating Dogs" EP release in 2012. Blink-182’s much-loved album “Enema of the State” this year celebrates its 15th anniversary.
