Dashboard Confessional will donate proceeds from three upcoming club shows to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The performances will take place Sept. 18 in Toronto, Sept. 19 in Chicago and Sept. 28 in Sayreville, N.J. The band will also take part in the "ReAct Now: Music & Relief" special Saturday (Sept. 10) on MTV, VH1 and CMT.
As previously reported, the Chris Carrabba-led band will begin its stint as one of the opening acts on the fall leg of U2's Vertigo tour Sept. 12 in Toronto.
The group is expected to unveil material from its upcoming, as-yet-untitled Vagrant album, according to label CEO Rich Egan. "It's on track for a January release," he tells Billboard.com of the Daniel Lanois-produced set. "The whole recording is different. Chris never had so much fun or [has] been so challenged while making a record. Nothing on the record sounds like anything else he's done."
After the U2 run, Dashboard has a handful of headlining dates on tap at universities, beginning Sept. 29 at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
