Madonna Reveals 'Messiah' Artwork. Maybe?
Mert and Marcus

Madonna's Instagram teaser campaign for her new song "Messiah" continues with today's picture of what could very possibly be the single's artwork. Then again, it could just be a cheeky ruse.

The image is of Madonna wearing a chainmail face mask that resembles a niqab - a face veil traditionally worn by Muslim women. The text at the bottom of the image simply states 'Messiah' with the accompanying caption reading: "What can i say??? #repost #revolutionoflove #messiah #iconic #unapologeticbitch #livingforlove #artforfreedom."

In the past week, Madge has posted a number of teasing references to a new song entitled "Messiah," including an image of some sheet music, a video of a classical orchestra performing and, most recently, some lyrics to the track.

While her latest post could well be the official artwork to “Messiah,” it's just as likely to be a deceptive ruse. Only last month, Madonna posted what appeared to be the artwork for a single or album called “Unapologetic Bitch.” It was later revealed that the image was fan-made. Today’s “Messiah” image is more than likely to be the same.

Almost exactly a year ago, the artist posted an image of herself wearing a chainmail niqab to Instagram, taken from a photoshoot with Harper’s Bazaar magazine. The Bazaar shoot also featured an image of the singer striking a near-identical pose to that of the "Messiah" artwork.

Still, you can't blame her for having a little fun.
