Slipknot Envision 'Melancholy' Album in Wake of Bassist's Death

Slipknot's hard-charging Knotfest will return to the U.S. this October, touching down in San Bernardino, Calif. for the first time. The three-day festival will be held at San Manuel Amphitheater & Campgrounds from Oct. 24-26.

Slipknot will headline the main stage on the second and third nights of the festival, with "brand new music and an entirely new stage set and experience," a press release promises. The Knotfest lineup also include Danzig, Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Anthrax, Killswitch Engage, Tech N9ne, Of Mice & Men and Black Label Society, among many others.

Last March, Slipknot announced that Knotfest will be heading to Tokyo this November, with Korn, Limp Bizkit, Lamb of God and others performing overseas. Tickets for the California version of the festival are on sale now.

"Knotfest is a chance for Slipknot to bring the sensory-overload of a wild European festival -- and now we're coming for you, California," says Slipknotā€™s M. Shawn Crahan (Clown) in a statement. "Playing two different sets over two nights at one location is a new experience in the history of this band. This year's Knotfests in the U.S. and Japan are going to be on another level."

Slipknot started Knotfest in August 2012, holding the heavy metal summit in their native Wisconsin. The group's upcoming album follows 2008's "All Hope Is Gone" as well as the 2012 best-of compilation "Antennas to Hell."
