The trailer for the Jimi Hendrix biopic, "Jimi: All Is By My Side," starring Andre 3000 was released today (July 3). And in it viewers are transported back to 1966 and 1967 just as the guitar legend finds fame and fortune.
The film, from Oscar-winning writer/director John Ridley ("12 Years A Slave"), chronicles the young musician's life during the Swinging Sixties. The trailer includes not only an intimate look at Hendrix's personal life, but also many performance scenes with Andre 3000 encapsulating Hendrix's signature on-stage persona and swagger.
"For me, it's colors. I want people to feel the same way I see it," the rapper, as Hendrix, shares in a voiceover.
In addition to the Outkast rapper (billed as Andre Benjamin), the film also stars Hayley Atwell and Imogen Poots. It will hit theaters on September 26.
