Elyjah Marrow, 19, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his roommate in Georgia
Rapper/actor Ice-T's grandson Elyjah Marrow, 19, was arrested in Marietta, Georgia, Tuesday afternoon and charged with involuntary manslaughter, among several other charges, following the accidental death of his roommate Daryus Johnson, also 19.
The pair, who the Marietta Daily Journal reports were "good friends," were in their apartment when a gun Marrow was holding went off by mistake. According to local Marietta police officials, Marrow "was not using proper firearms safety when handling the gun," and that "that reckless handling of the firearm is what led to Johnson being accidentally shot and eventually killed."
Johnson was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. In addition to manslaughter, Marrow was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute; he is currently being held in Cobb County jail without bail.
The teenager is the son of LeTesha Marrow, who was born to Ice-T (AKA Tracy Lauren Marrow) and then-girlfriend Adrienne in 1976, when the couple were teenagers themselves.
