The ranks of participants for two upcoming awards shows are swelling, with the initial list of performers confirmed for the American Music Awards (AMA) and celebrity presenters joining the cast of the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.
Mariah Carey, who is the top AMA nominee with four mentions, will perform during that Nov. 22 event. Also due to entertain that night are Kenny Chesney and Rob Thomas, who each received one nomination.
The AMAs will be hosted by comedian/actor Cedric "The Entertainer" and broadcast live on ABC from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.
The CMAs will feature artists Vince Gill (a 12-time CMA Awards host), Kris Kristofferson, Shania Twain, and Trisha Yearwood presenting awards, along with Donald Trump and actors Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix. The latter pair star as June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash, respectively, in the upcoming Cash biopic "Walk the Line."
The Nov. 15 event, which moves from Nashville to New York for the first time in its 39-year history, will be broadcast live on CBS from Madison Square Garden. The show will be hosted by Brooks & Dunn, who will also perform, along with previously announced performers Chesney, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban and Lee Ann Womack.
