Seminal indie rockers Guided By Voices are getting their own beer. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s classic album "Bee Thousand," Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Delaware has created an imperial lager called BEER Thousand.
As the Dogfish Head website states, the beer is brewed with 10 grains and 10 hop varieties, and clocks in at a whopping 10% ABV. "10x10x10 = BEER Thousand," says the company news post.
The beer made a sneak premiere at Thursday night's GBV show in Madison, Wisconsin, with a small batch available at the Dogfish brewpub, Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, while supplies last.
Come fall, BEER Thousand will be sold widely through Dogfish Head's 30-state distribution network, packaged with a 10-inch record with 10 songs recorded live June 25, 1994, during the "Insects of Rock" tour, the band's first tour. GBV will also play a Dogfish Head-sponsored show on August 21 at the Milton Theater in Milton, Delaware, blocks from the Dogfish Head production brewery.
