Two years after her death, Whitney Houston's got yet another face: this time, according to a report, it's going to be "America's Next Top Model" alumnus Yaya DaCosta playing the late superstar in a previously announced Lifetime biopic.
TVLine reports that DaCosta, whose past film and television credits include "Lee Daniels' The Butler," "All My Children," "House," and "Ugly Betty," will portray a young Houston as she navigates her rise to fame amid her infamously tumultuous relationship with songwriter Bobby Brown. Angela Bassett, whose latest work includes direction on FX's "American Horror Story," is slated to direct.
The as-yet untitled film, which is slated for a 2015 release, may be going forward against the wishes of Houston's family, according to TMZ, who reports that sister-in-law Pat Houston has commented that Houston "deserves more than a TV movie," and that the clan is considering a lawsuit.
Houston died the night before the 2012 Grammy Awards via accidental drowning in her bathroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was 48.
