Ariana Grande takes the lead of the first weekly Twitter Top Tracks chart as "Problem," featuring Iggy Azalea, comes in as the most shared song on the social service for the week. Azalea's own "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX starts at No. 8.
"Problem" also surges 3-2 on Streaming Songs with the greatest gain among all titles in the week ending June 1 (up 25 percent according to Nielsen BDS) thanks to the release of the track's official music video on Friday, May 30, just two days before the tracking week closed. Vevo on YouTube views account for 63 percent of "Problem's" 13 million U.S. streams, which is an improvement of 64 percent from last week, when the song's lyric video was the main driver of views on the service.
"Fancy," meanwhile, remains at the No. 1 spot on Streaming Songs for the third consecutive week. The track remains buoyed by its official music video on Vevo (which of course features Charli XCX) which receives a 18 percent change in week over week activity. Furthermore, the streaming activity combined with a 16% increase in radio traction helps the song remain at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second week in a row.
The release of the "Problem" music video also has an effect on Grande and Azalea's standings on the Social 50. Grande moves 8-2, her highest standing since December 2013, with a 110 percent increase in mentions on Twitter and a 34 percent increase in Tweets from her account. Azalea moves 10-5, her second visit to the top 10, with a 30 percent rise in points as she adds 568,000 new fans to her online audience across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
To recap the rest of the Social 50's top 10, Justin Bieber remains at No. 1 amidst yet another controversial video surfacing from his past which sparked a 22 percent increase in reactions on Twitter. Miley Cyrus remains at No. 3, while Austin Mahone climbs 11-4 -- his first visit to the top 10 -- because of the release of his debut EP, "The Secret." Last week, a bonus track from that EP, "Shadow," became the first track to reach No. 1 on Billboard's Twitter 140 chart. Overall, Mahone's release spawns a 47 percent increase in reaction on Twitter and more than 6 million reactions (a 77 percent increase over the previous week) on Instagram. Below, pop/rock band 5 Seconds of Summer ascend 7-6 along with Katy Perry (9-7) and Beyonce (14-8). One Direction rises as well, moving 12-9 and Nicki Minaj takes an 8 position tumble (2-10).
