As first tipped here this summer, hip-hop outfit the Roots have split with Geffen and signed to Def Jam Left. The group's new album, "Game Theory," is expected for release sometime next year. In the wake of their exit, Geffen has rounded up album tracks, remixes and B-sides for the compilations "Home Grown! Volume 1 & 2: Beginners Guide To Understanding the Roots," due Nov. 15.

Guest appearances sprinkled throughout the two separate discs include Eve, Common, Jill Scott, Raphael Saadiq and D'Angelo. Also featured are live radio performances of "Sacrifice" and "The Seed" and a "dub" version of "Break You Off" taped at a 2003 show in Cincinnati.

The Roots have a handful of concerts on their schedule this month, including a gig tonight in San Diego and Sunday in Chicago.
