Black Stone Cherry is giving their fans a bite out of the Southern rock band's new album with the release of lead single "Me and Mary Jane." The new track, which Billboard exclusively premieres below, is lifted from Black Stone Cherry's fourth studio album "Magic Mountain," due out on May 6 through Roadrunner Records.
Director Mason Dixon shot the sexy, smoky clip in Nashville, TN. Few, if any videos, have featured so many girls, smoking quite so much. And what are they all dragging on? Well, check the title.
"We wanted to make a cool, interesting, and dangerous video… all the while keeping it sexy and rock ‘n roll,” frontman Chris Robertson tells Billboard.
The clip has "a ton of vibe and we're sure people will want to watch it over and over again," adds Robertson. "I mean, if you're gonna do a video in today's world, why not go for it."
Black Stone Cherry -- comprising Robertson (lead vocals/lead guitar), Ben Wells (rhythm guitar/backing vocals), Jon Lawhon (bass/backing vocals) and John Fred Young (drums/backing vocals) -- has maintained the same line-up since the group formed in Edmonton, Kentucky on Robertson’s 16th birthday, way back in June 2001.
The band’s three full-length albums to-date are “Black Stone Cherry” (2006), "Folklore and Superstition” (2008), and “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” (2011).
U.S. tour dates run from April 22 (Varsity Theatre, Baton Rouge) to May 24 (AT&T Center, San Antonio), while a European tour will start June 1 (Arena Joe Strummer, Bologna, Italy) and carry through to Nov. 1 (Wembley Arena, U.K.).
