Prefuse 73's Scott Herren begins 2006 busy with a host of musical projects, the first of which is the previously announced studio album "Security Screenings," due Feb. 7 via Warp. According to Herren's official Web site, another Prefuse 73 album is also in the works and will feature just one collaborator, Battles drummer John Stanier.
A new album with the more organic-leaning side project Savath & Savalas "is creeping its way into the light slowly. I've been having fun with this," Herren says. Also in the works is a sountrack for the film "Remake," collaborations with Count Bass D and Flying Lotus and hip-hop production work for "major-label dudes that I can't advertise or mention here."
This summer, the Japan-based Gas Books will issue an as-yet-untitled book of Herren's writing, photos and art. Herren is also lining up a slate of new releases from his Eastern Developments label, including albums from Icy Demons, A Cloud Mireya (which features him in collaboration with Claudia Deheza), Soft Circle and Tyondai Braxton, plus a compilation of "music past and present."
Finally, Herren will take Prefuse 73 on the road this spring for a three-week U.K. tour, beginning March 18 in Exeter and wrapping April 6 in London.
