The actor and rock star woos the media moments after his win for best supporting actor for "Dallas Buyers Club."

Jared Leto may have made Oscar press history by letting members of the media pass around his gold statuette backstage at the Academy Award ceremony following his win for best supporting actor in 'Dallas Buyers Club.'

"Does anybody want to try it out for size?" said Leto. "You can fondle it if you want to. Pass it around, but if you have swine flu, please don't touch. I bet this is the first time someone has given away their Oscar for an orgy in the press room.

The ebullient actor and musician quickly won over the press room with his humor and trademark warmth. He also repeatedly thanked publicist Robin Baum, whom he forgot to thank when accepting the Oscar on stage at the Dolby Theater.

He also ribbed a rule prohibiting the media from taking personal photos in the press room. "No fun! Let the media do what they do. Revolution, baby!"

When asked if he preferred standing on the stage as an actor or a rock star, Leto said the "good news is that I don't have to choose, right?"

"This [Dolby Theater] would be a very small venue for 30 Seconds to Mars, but when you have to stand up there without your band, and it isn't exactly your audience, it is quite impressive and exhilarating and fun," Leto said. "During one point in my speech, I found myself talking right to De Niro. It's heavy, isn't it?"

Leto also happily revealed that he will "revel" his Oscar win until the break of dawn.
