Sean Lennon and Wilco guitarist Nels Cline have scored Edet Belzberg's documentary "Watchers of the Sky, which will make its world premiere Jan. 20 at the Temple Theater in Park City, Utah.

It is Lennon's third score, having previously composed music for Jordan Galland's films "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead" and "Alter Egos." Meanwhile, it's Cline's second score, having previously worked on 1994's "Hard Drive."

Lennon signed on to score the film late in the process. Cline, coincidentally, was at the screening. Both then called on musician friends to help, getting Yuka Honda of Cibo Matto to organize a recording session. Beyond the collective improvisations, Lennon solo pieces on piano and celeste.

"Watchers of the Sky" comprises four stories about people who have worked to stop genocide in Germany, Rwanda, Darfur and Syria. Lennon was particularly touched by the film's central character, the Polish lawyer Raphael Lemkin, who defined the crime of genocide in the 1930s.

Jazz bassist Derrick Hoge scored Belzberg's last film, "The Recruiter."
