Shaun White is chasing some outrageously big dreams this year. The flame-haired rock 'n' roll snowboarder will likely go for gold at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and he's aiming high with his band Bad Things, which will release its self-titled debut album on Jan. 21 through Warner Bros. Records.
Billboard has an exclusive preview of the track "Vices." The radio-friendly alternative rock song can be listened to below and purchased at iTunes. "I have been playing the guitar riff in 'Vices' as long as I've been playing the guitar, so I'm really glad it finally turned into something," White tells Billboard.
The snowboarding champ formed the band in Los Angeles with childhood friends Anthony Sanudo (guitar) and Lena Zawaideh (drums) and later added members Jared Palomar (bass) and frontman Davis LeDuke. Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith, The Vines) came on board to produce the album.
Bad Things enjoyed a breakthrough in 2013 with a prominent slot at Lollapalooza, and a raft of North American tour dates through the summer.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist is widely expected to compete in the halfpipe and slopestyle events at the Feb. 6-23 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Qualifying events for snowboarders were canceled over the weekend in Breckenridge, Colo. due to weather conditions, giving the 27-year-old star time to ride the couch instead.
Billboard caught up with the band in September at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Watch:
