As first tipped here last month, Steely Dan and Michael McDonald will team up for a summer North American tour. The outing will begin July 7 at Milwaukee's Summerfest and run through Sept. 2 outside Detroit. McDonald previously played keyboards and sang backing vocals on such Steely Dan classics as "The Royal Scam," "Katy Lied" and "Aja."

Each act is expected to play its own set, after which McDonald would join Steely Dan for a number of hits on which he performed, including the 1977 No. 11 Billboard pop singles chart entry "Peg."

Earlier this spring, Steely Dan principal Donald Fagen released "Morph the Cat," his first solo album in more than a decade, and also toured on his own for the first time in his career.
