A member of rapper T.I.'s entourage was shot and killed early this morning (May 3) in Cincinnati, following a party for the artist at the city's Club Ritz. T.I. was not harmed in the shootout, which occurred around 3 a.m. ET on Interstate 75. The rapper had performed earlier in the evening at Cincinnati venue Bogart's in support of his chart-topping Grand Hustle/Atlantic album, "King."
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, trouble started inside Club Ritz when a group of men confronted T.I. and his entourage. A witness told the paper T.I. and his friends attempted to drive away from the club without further incident but that their vans was followed onto the highway, where shots broke out.
The identity of the shooting fatality has not been released. T.I.'s show tonight in St. Louis has been postponed.
Club Ritz has been a hotbed of controversy in recent months, thanks to a June 2005 shooting outside the establishment and a move to revoke its liquor license by the Cincinnati City Council.
