The 10th week of Justin Bieber's 'Music Mondays' series included the announcement that the pop superstar would be packaging all 10 songs, as well as five new tracks, into a temporary collection titled "Journals," beginning next week. As exciting as the news may be to Beliebers, it shouldn't completely overshadow the release of "Confident," a new song featuring Chicago up-and-comer Chance The Rapper, and one of the strongest 'Music Mondays' releases.
On "Confident," Bieber succinctly abandons the hurt of his previous 'Music Mondays' songs and focuses on a new love interest, crooning, "She's confident/Oh no no, oh no no/And I'm down with it." Later, Chance The Rapper leaps into view with his patented gonzo charm, rattling off lines about twerk education and playing the comedic counterpart to Bieber's straight-faced heartthrob.
"Confident" will be the 10th track on "Journals," set to be released on iTunes for a limited time beginning on Dec. 16. The five previously unreleased songs that help comprise the track list include "Backpack," featuring Lil Wayne; a Future collaboration titled "What's Hatnin'"; and "Memphis," another Big Sean duet with production from Diplo. Fans who have purchased Bieber's previous 'Music Mondays' tracks can use a "complete my Journal" function in iTunes, similar to the standard "complete my album" option.
Along with five new tracks, "Journals" will include a new theatrical trailer for "Believe," Bieber's upcoming 3D concert film. "Believe" hits theaters on Christmas Day.
