An album Jon Spencer made in 2001 with the Dickinson brothers of the North Mississippi Allstars that was previously only available in Japan will be issued in North America this summer.

"The Man Who Lives for Love," recorded under the apt moniker Spencer Dickinson, is due Aug. 22 via Yep Roc and includes seven tracks not found on the original. The project was produced by Luther and Cody Dickinson's famed father Jim.

With 19 tracks, the last clocking in over 10 minutes, the album "got weird" as the trio recorded at the eldest Dickinson's Memphis ranch.

"I was a little messed up in the head anyway," says Spencer. "It was freezing cold. It was tough, just a barn with a space heater. We got that freak element. We got the groovy hate vibe."
