News on Ricky Martin, Lady Sovereign, Squarepusher

Ricky Martin will tape an episode of "MTV Unplugged" next month in Miami. The show will air in November on MTV worldwide and will also be released as a CD/DVD package that month via Columbia. In addition to his usual band, Martin will be backed at the taping by string and horn sections.

Other Latin artists who have been featured on "MTV Unplugged" include Shakira, Mana, Alejandro Sanz and Argentine pop singer Diego Torres, who recorded the most recend edition for MTV Latin America in Argentina.

Martin, who is taking a break from touring in support of his latest album, "Life," won Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year for "I Don't Care/Que Mas Da" at the recent Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami.

U.K. rapper Lady Sovereign is eyeing an October release for her Def Jam debut, "Public Warning." The album will be preceded by the single "Love Me or Hate Me," which will be delivered Aug. 7 to U.S. radio outlets. The track was produced by Dr. Luke.

Lady Sovereign will drop by North America for three upcoming shows: July 30 at New York's Central Park Summerstage, Aug. 4 at Lollapalooza in Chicago and Sept. 2 at Bumbershoot in Seattle. Also on tap is an Aug. 12-13 appearance at Japan's Summer Sonic Festival and a visit to the U.K.'s Reading and Leeds festival on Aug. 25 and 27.

U.K. electronica act Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson) will release his next album, "Hello Everything," Oct. 17 via Warp Records. The explosive album track "The Modern Bass Guitar" can be streamed from Warp's Web site. "Hello Everything" is the follow-up to 2004's "Ultravisitor," which debuted at No. 9 on Billboard's Top Electronic Albums chart.

In related news, fellow Warp artist Chris Clark is eyeing an autumn release for his third album, "Body Riddle." The set includes the track "Herr Bar," which was featured on Clark's recent five-song EP "Throttle Furniture."
