Country superstar Toby Keith tries on a new hat this fall by appearing in his first film, "Broken Bridges." The movie premieres Sept. 7 in Nashville and opens in wide U.S. theatrical release the next day. Keith stars as a character he described to Billboard in March as "an old country songwriter that drank himself into a career coma."

As previously reported, "Broken Bridges" also stars Kelly Preston and newcomer Lindsey Haun as Keith's character's 16-year-old daughter. Haun and Keith duet on the title cut from the soundtrack, which will be released Aug. 29 on the latter's own Show Dog Nashville label.

The album is rounded out by seven songs from Keith, including a rendition of the spiritual "Uncloudy Day" with Willie Nelson and BeBe Winans. Other tracks come courtesy of Scotty Emerick, Fred Eaglesmith and Sonya Isaacs.

Meanwhile, Keith will on Aug. 11 launch his Hookin' Up & Hanging' Out tour in Cleveland. Haun will support, along with Rushlow Harris and Joe Nichols.
