The event will take place at the Palacio de los Deportes arena. It will air live on MTV Latin America in 24 countries throughout the region, and on U.S. Hispanic channel MTV Tr3s. MTV and MTV2, which reach an additional 80 million U.S. households, will broadcast the show at a later date.
Last year's awards ceremony, slated to be held in Mexican tourist resort Playa del Carmen, was called off in October as Hurricane Wilma was bearing down on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The hurricane devastated the region days after the scheduled show.
Last year marked the first time that Mexico was to host the ceremony. Though the live show was canceled, the network announced the winners in December. Colombian pop star Shakira took top honors with five awards, including artist of the year. The first three editions took place in Miami Beach.
