With the sad news that rock icon Lou Reed died Sunday (October 27) at the age of 71, celebrities across genres and generations have taken to Twitter to share an outpouring of reactions expressing grief and celebrating Reed's life and long career both in the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist.
Surviving VU member John Cale shared his remembrance on Facebook, writing, "The world has lost a fine songwriter and poet… I've lost my 'school-yard buddy.'" David Bowie's official Facebook posted a photo of Bowie and Reed together in 2007 with a caption that reads, "It is with great sadness that we report the death of Lou Reed who died today aged 71. (March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013)... David Bowie said of his old friend: 'He was a master.'"
