This week, Hillsong United drops "Zion Acoustic Sessions," an all-acoustic album that follows its chart-topping album from earlier this year, "Zion." In commemoration, the band is releasing a music video for the song "Love Is War," premiering exclusively on Billboard.
The Australian Christian act, which appears as the worship band at Sydney's Hillsong Church, releases "Love is War" as part of the larger "Acoustic Sessions" project, which features acoustic versions and videos from "Zion," released in February. The album, the group's third LP, topped the Christian Albums chart, while debuting at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 34,000 in its first week -- Hillsong's best showing on that chart.
"This song is one that we had the title before the lyrics," Hillsong member Joel Houston said of "Love is War." "It's a picture of the fact that sometimes we spend so much time and effort fighting the wrong battles -- but the fight is to surrender.
"We fight to cling to all these things we have control over to be successful to put all the pieces together to be happy and do what we think we are intended to do. But if we would just realize that the fight is to surrender daily and when we allow ourselves to do this, we can go about loving the way God has called us to love - and that example is in Jesus. I'm going to let go of all control and surrender to fight for love as Christ fought for us."
"Zion Acoustic Sessions" is the first acoustic album for Hillsong United, which begins a new U.S. tour this November. Dates are already sold out in Boston and Miami.
