Evan Dando's Lemonheads shake off a decade-long hiatus with their vibrant self-titled debut for Vagrant, which, as previously reported, is due Sept. 26. The 11-track disc is crammed with insistently melodic, peppy power pop, driven by the rhythm section of Descendents drummer Bill Stevenson and bassist Karl Alvarez.

Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis solos wildly on "No Backbone" and "Steve's Boy," a son's belated attempt at reconciliation with his ill father. Elsewhere, the Band's Garth Hudson contributes keyboards to the blistering opener "Black Gown" and Hammond B3 organ on closer "December."

Other highlights include the jaunty "Poughkeepsie," first single "Become the Enemy" and "Pittsburgh," which easily could have fit on 1993's "Come on Feel the Lemonheads."

Dando, bassist Josh Lattanzi and drummer John Kent will hit the road in mid-November in support of the new album, including two-night stands in Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco.

In related news, Dinosaur Jr. was victimized by a thief last night (Aug. 29) while its trailer was parked outside a hotel in Long Island City, N.Y. Among the items stolen were several guitars, a pedal board, cymbals and a Rickenbacker bass. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Brian Schwartz at 303-998-0001 or Bart Dahl at 212-777-0922.
