Lionel Richie's Coming Home Tour, which begins Oct. 27 in Detroit, will benefit the United Way via an exclusive pre-sale on Tickets-for-Charity.com. During the pre-sale period, which runs through Sept. 22, fans can purchase ticket packages at various price levels that will support local United Way organizations, particularly in the 16 tour cities.
The fall outing comes in support of of Richie's new album "Coming Home," due Sept. 12 via Island. The single "I Call It Love" recently earned Richie a No. 1 hit on Billboard's Adult R&B chart.
The album sports collaborations with Jermaine Dupri, Sean Garrett, Dallas Austin, Raphael Saadiq and Richie musical director Chuckii Booker, among others.
"I'm a writer first," Richie tells Billboard in an interview to be published Friday (Sept. 8). "And to get the real me on record, I wrote with them. They brought me things we experimented with, and my job was to skew it back to me, to build the bridge between the generations without sounding too ridiculous."
