Beyonce A No-Show But Wins Big At MOBO Awards

Beyonce Knowles took home three awards at last night's (Sept. 20) MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards in London, but was booed by the audience when she failed to turn up and pick up her trophies. Knowles won best song and video for "Deja Vu" and best international female act at the event, held at London's Royal Albert Hall.

When the presenters explained she could not attend to pick up her first award, there was lukewarm applause from spectators. Their response included slight jeers during the announcement of the second award, but by the third award, presented by U.K. singer Mica Paris, there were universal boos throughout the venue.

The negative response was exacerbated by the fact that it was generally known Beyonce was supposed to be in the United Kingdom yesterday. Moreover, there was no pre-recorded thank you, which the Black Eyed Peas supplied when they were unable to attend.

However, a spokesperson for MOBO organizers insisted Beyonce was actually in France, instead of London, and was therefore unable to make an appearance.
