The singer is "in shock" over the death, which occurred as Newton-John and her husband were away from the Florida home.
A 42-year-old man was found dead in Olivia Newton-John's Florida home, authorities told the Palm Beach Post.
According to the newspaper, the unidentified man, a contractor, had suffered a gunshot wound. Police Sgt. Scott Pascarella did not confirm if the death had been a suicide. Newton-John and her husband were reportedly not in the Jupiter, Fla., home at the time of the incident.
"Olivia and her husband John are in shock over the tragic event that occurred at their Florida home yesterday," the singer's rep said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. "At this time we are awaiting additional information from investigators but, can confirm that the couple was not in Florida at the time and, the deceased was not a family member."
Website GossipExtra reported earlier this month that Rosie O'Donnell is in the process of buying the home.
Newton-John released the Christmas collection "This Christmas" in 2012, reuniting with "Grease" co-star John Travolta. It peaked at No. 81 on the Billboard 200, with profits from the November album going to charity.
