Robert Plant Enters Social Media Age
Robert Plant, the legendary singer of Led Zeppelin who’s recently been tearing up the live circuit with his solo shows, is today (Aug. 8) entering the world of social media via Twitter, Instagram and Google Plus.
At the same time, the singer is also relaunching his web site www.robertplant.com with a new logo and an array of multimedia and archival material.
As part of the Plant promotional push, the first 25,000 fans to follow Plant on Twitter (@robertplant) receive an exclusive free download of his current combo, Robert Plant Presents Sensational Space Shifters, performing the Led Zeppelin classic, "What Is and What Should Never Be," live in concert from their 2012/2013 world tour. As of this report at 11:05 a.m., however, Plant had already received 30,110 followers.
If the Golden God's past is any indication, the rather witty and charming singer, who during last year's press conference for the Led Zeppelin concert film "Celebration Day" kept a roomful of journalists entertained and smiling, his social media posts should be similarly engaging.
The site, revamped by LoveLive, will now offer unseen artifacts from Plant's personal collection, spanning five epic decades of TV interviews, photographs, press clippings, set lists, tour laminates, posters, and music videos, as well as an in-depth discography and gigography. An exclusive docu-series - shot by Plant chronicling his recent visit to Mali is set to premiere over 10 weekly installments later this year.
