Tim McGraw, Lamb of God, Ingrid Michaelson & Kellie Pickler All Eye Big Starts
Things are going to start heating up on the Billboard 200 next week.
On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), we're getting a sneak peak at what could debut in the Billboard 200's top 10, and it's looking like there may be up to five new albums taking a bow in the region.
The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (ending Sunday, Jan. 29) as reported by six major merchants. On the list, Nos. 2-6 are all titles that were released this past Tuesday (Jan. 24), led by Tim McGraw's "Emotional Traffic" at No. 2. Industry sources suggest the album may sell around 60,000 to 65,000 copies by week's end on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Adele's blockbuster "21" album is sitting pretty at No. 1 on the Building list, while Lamb of God's new "Resolution" appears at No. 3. Ingrid Michaelson's "Human Again" is No. 4, followed by the "2012 Grammy Nominees" compilation at No. 5 and Kellie Pickler's "100 Proof" at No. 6. Both Lamb of God and the "Grammy" set may move around 50,000.
Two more new releases dot the Building chart's top 10 -- though it's still a bit early to tell if they'll ultimately make the top 10 next week on the final Billboard 200. Christian singer Kari Jobe is at No. 9 with her new album "Where I Find You," while the "Chimes of Freedom" all-star benefit compilation is at No. 10. The latter set celebrates both the career of Bob Dylan and the good works of Amnesty International.
As for the rest of the Building chart's top 10, we have holdovers from the "Kidz Bop 21" album (No. 7) and Drake's "Take Care" (No. 8).
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 1.
