Scars on 45's self-titled debut album will arrive on April 10 on Chop Shop/Atlantic, three years after the British band's song "Beauty's Running Wild" made its TV debut on "CSI: New York" and earned them a U.S. following.
"It's nice to finally get the album out," frontman Danny Bemrose told Billboard as the group prepared for its North American tour. "The songs… were pretty much done before all of this really came about. We signed our deal to Chop Shop, we had already pretty much finished [recording]."
The group's picked up a number of television placements in the last three years, with "Heart On Fire" earning a prominent position on the "Grey's Anatomy" soundtrack's fourth volume. Their soaring guitar pop found a sync-friendly home in Chop Shop, the label founded by music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas (who also handles "Grey's"); the label released their "Give Me Something" and "Heart on Fire" EPs last year.
Scars on 45 plan to back the album's release with a lengthy tour, including a number of shows with Ingrid Michaelson and a date on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Friday-its television performance debut.
"If I'm brutally honest with you, we're a bit nervous about it," Bemrose said, adding that he'd asked recent tour partners the Fray for advice on playing the show.
"We'll play 'Heart on Fire,' we've played that song 50,000 times," he said. "They said, at the end of the day, you just play the song you've played so many times before."
As for the album's success, the band hopes their patient fans will give them a chance.
"We want to tour as much as we can," Bemrose said. "All we want to do is continue to work hard, continue to meet such good people that we've met along the way. It's what we've wanted for such a long time."
